The Denver A Cappella Project was formed in late 1999, and we've been singing with each other ever since.
What…you wanted more?
Well, how do these things ever get started? Our director, and intrepid
leader, Darin Drown is an accomplished choral director in the Denver area.
He and his wife, Jenny, moved to town in 1998 and, in addition to raising
two wonderful children, wanted to do something musical together. Mark and
Dianne and Jim and Rhonda had been contemplating something similar.
At this point, it all gets a little bit fuzzy. Some of us knew each other,
some of us did not, but we all had been actively involved in various singing
venues (a cappella groups, barbershop quartets, church groups, bands, choirs).
Somewhere along the way we became fast friends and then decided to give
singing together a try. Shortly thereafter, we became fast singing friends
as well. D.A.P. was born.
With over a 170 years of combined singing and performing experience, the
group has been entertaining a wide variety of audiences throughout the
region and nation -- all to rave reviews (humbly speaking, of course).
OK, yes, there are a lot of relationships...legitimage ones, mind you...in
the group. With 2 sets of siblings and 3 sets of spouses, things can get
confusing even for us. To answer the most asked question, or for those
that are simply curious, be sure to check out the Who's Who.
